So I flashed Stage 1.5 93 Oct last night and all I can say is wow. Immediate change in performance. Haven't had too much time behind the wheel but after a few passes on the highway and my short commute to work, this is a huge improvement over being stock. Stage 1.5 is perfect for someone DDing the car (my commute is 15 miles or so and more often than not I don't see open road).
Took longer for my WinBook TW700 to update Windows than it did to flash the car. Got the TW700 for $50 and it works great and now I have a tablet to surf the web from the couch with.
Shifts feel much smoother now. I never got the perfect shift out of 1st (probably my driving style more than anything) but seems to be much smoother now.

Stock everything just the tune. I used to get squeaks on shifts, those seem to have stopped.
What I get now is clicks mid gear half throttle. Sometimes it's one click, sometimes two, sometimes three quick clicks. It sounds to me like the actuator that controls the wastegate.
I've heard similar complaints solved by a wastegate clip but those were 1.6 liter VWs. Anyoone get this on a 2.0 tsi?

I just flashed mine a little while ago to stg 2 93oct, Im running a catless dp and intake. I too had the same error reading programming counter. And in 3rd / 4th gear under full load at approx 50 mph ( a hill for ex ) mine will flutter as well. DEF not a metallic noise. Any ideas how to fix such an issue?

Yea just researched it further, like a dope, shouldve done that before posting lol. As for the flutter sound under load, that too is normal, it is the wastegate regulating boost. So my rolling up a hill ( more like a mtn actually ) in third more boost in being created than really needed so the wastegate is just dumping it.
I know what you guys are describing but that's not what I'm talking about. This is not a continuous rattle. It's a distinctive intermittent click. Not a vibration and def not a flutter, but more like sound of two things clacking into each other. I'll have to try making a video of it. It's reminicent of a garbage disposal with something bouncing off the blade a few times.

You sure it's the waste gate? I used to get a continuous click under heavy throttle from my Yamaha R1. Guess is was a "famous Yamaha" sound coming from the fuel injection.
I have a question about the flash 5.3. I did a full vcds scan and got no faults for my ecm and then checked info in the flash software, it came back saying progamability 40 and sucessful program attempts 00. Does that mean the flash counter has been reset to 00? And one more question, in the flash software I saw the meastro logger under other options, when I attempt to use it (seems awesome) it says fail to communicate. Does that just mean we dont have access to that with the flash tool?

I flashed to 1.5 today, all I can say is wow. Even with summer tires traction is hard to come by.
I think I'll stick with 1.5 for daily use and flash back to stock for track days to limit my exposure to undue stress.
The power curve will take some adjusting on my part as even D is more exciting. Overall I'm quite satisfied.
