Has anyone used any of the aftermarket adapters for video input on the RCD-510??

I really want to add a back-up camera, and then get an Android phone with HDMI out and use an HDMI to composite converter to get my phone to repeat on the stock screen.

That way I can use the Aux input for audio and my phone as a media player and GPS without having to buy a new head unit. Thoughts?

The screen resolution is only 400x240 I think. I wonder if it would clip the video or how it would look?

also it will only display the phone, all controls will still have to be done through the phone

Yeah, I know the phone would still be used to control it, but I already have my phone mounted under the AC controls. I just want to be able to see everything on a larger screen: GPS, pandora, Torque gauges.

I also think there are car mode apps that make everything easier to control, or add voice control.

The only other option for controlling the phone via the touchscreen would be to hack into the touchscreen, and send the signal to a usb touchscreen controller and then use it with a phone that has a separate RCA out and also supports usb host mode, like the original Galaxy S.

I dunno. I'm sure its a resistive touchscreen, which usually come in the 4-wire or 5-wire variety. You can buy usb controllers on ebay relatively cheap. Then its just a matter of taking apart the rcd to see if I can find the touchscreen wires, and tap those into the usb controller... maybe a little more trouble than its worth.

Update: found a product that will allow control of the phone through the oem touchscreen via bluetooth.

Their original product is off the market for a bit, but a new version is set to be released soon!

There's a thread over at mp3car forums.

Already have a dash mount for the area under the AC controls. Getting my Galaxy S2 soon, and then the video input adapter, and the BT touchscreen controller. Then I'll have the ultimate headunit.

Got the galaxy s2, updated version with 4.5" screen from TMobile!

The Bluetooth touchscreen adapters are available on pre-order now.

I'll be looking into ordering the video input soon.

i think the MimicsX2 + Sender would be the one needed because we already have touch screens. has anyone ordered, installed, and has it working? my built in gps sucks compared to my phone.
