Get the front and rear complete look of footwells.

This DIY included the older wired version of the bulbs - the DIY still works on how to run wires - but this wire simply plugs into your footwells adapter instead of being attached to the LED which makes it easier to install:

Would this work in an mk7 golf Wolfsburg? I have the cutouts for where the lights would go in my footwells and rear footwells but no lights for either.

All the Golf's have the cutouts, it's just part of the dash and part of the seat pans. You need to already have front footwells for this kit to work. The kit replaces factory front wells with LED's (your choice of solid color or RGB, controlled with remote). It also includes a wire (with two pin adapter I guess) to run down the sill, and to the seat pans so you can ADD rear footwells.

Since you don't have footwells at all you would need a kit like the below. Choose the full kit even if you're going to get the DeAuto LED's. The kit includes the wiring to all four footwell lights and includes housings. You won't use the rear housings but you will re-use the front housings, installing the DeAuto LED's into them.

Footwell lights are wired to the BCM (the harness in the link includes the BCM wire/pin) and you would need to do the BCM coding for the footwell lights as well. DeAuto does sell a kit for cars with no footwell lights. It says that it fits all VW/Audio models. That is technically true but ignores several key points with footwell operation in a way that is disingenuous at best. The DIY they link is for a 2014 GLI which is not the same platform as your Mk7 Golf. The coding/wiring instructions in that link do not apply to our cars.
