So... ummm  Obviously DSG gives the upper hand and the 911 guy sucks at launching but not bad. Also note the 911 is an older model with less hp vs a newer one.

R ran 13.1 Apparently (stock)

Following the R's build, he does have lighter wheels, comparing them to the oem wheels.

If we tuned the R with lets say stage 2+, better tires, or drag radials, run meth, this thing is a serious machine that would give people a run for their money.

Keep being on the lookout for my posts on updates regarding the R!

cheers.

Seems like a bad driver in the 996 Turbo. Those things run low 12's stock. Still VERY impressive for the Golf R...

That Porsche may be slower than the new ones and it will always be harder to lay down the power in a rear wheel drive. All things considered the golf did really well, it ain't no slow Porsche it's a turbo.

Porsche driver can't drive for sure.. As soon as he engages the gear it flies

I'm interested to know what the R trap speed was

Everyone's being bit harsh to Porsche driver, yeah the cars are fairly close to 60mph and he didn't get best start. Wasn't that bad considering golf had launch and Porsche didn't and golf was dsg and he had to change gears manually. Despite the bad start once the Porsche got to around 70-80mph the golf was cannon fodder. Yeah I wanted the golf to kick his arse all the way but that turbo is a much more powerful car and if you raced one on a 300-400yd straight all people would see is a golf kicking ass of a car that cost over twice as much new.

New and older models are AWD, no issues with putting down power. Just a newer driver who doesn't race much.

Haven't been in a R yet, but have been in a friend's 996. Starts off really slow for the first second or two and then BAM with the turbo kicking in.
