MIB2 Infotainment firmware update question

Hello. I have just upgraded my firmware from MST2_EU_VW_E0220D to MST2_EU_VW_P0231D_MU633 as per the advice in this forum. All worked OK but now when I plug my phone in it says 'app connect - you can activate this function by means of an activation code. Please contact your dealer'. Also all the phone features have disappeared. Is there any way I can get this feature back without paying VW??
Looks like your previous E0220D firmware was modified to enable some features.
You installed an update which have overwritten the modifications and locked those features back.
Looking at http://mib-helper.com/?train=MST2_EU_VW_P0231D we can see that you can patch the unit again by one of the two methods.
@Ogdonald , you should be fine with this firmware.

Follow this:
1. Update to MHI2_ER_VWG13_K4525
2. Download M.I.B.-More Incredible Bash (from github) and patches (from mib.mibsolution.one)
3. Install M.I.B. in your unit (use quality SD card)
4. Use M.I.B. to patch your system. It will automatically add EU code if I recall
5. Before installing EU maps you will most likely need to remove old RoW maps first. There should be an option in M.I.B. for it as well (format Nav partition or something like that)
6. Update with EU maps.

On a similar topic, has anyone had any experiences with these places that are offering remote app connect activation? I've seen several places offering it for about £100. Apparently they send you files that you load onto an SD card and install yourself. Is this legit? I thought the car had to be connected to VW or something for activation.
