De badging a GTI/GTD

has anyone been brave enough to attempt a de badge yet? I am wondering what the grille would look like behind the badge in particular.

My side GTD badges do not look to be on that securely anyway!

Pics would be helpful.

I believe the grille is molded to expect a badge, so if you remove the front one, expect a GTI silhouette left behind.

One trick i have seen is to spray the chrome GTI badge black..

I did it. The front badge can't be removed neatly. Better to just paint the GTI badge.

Everything else is stuck on with double sided tape and can be removed. You can see more pics in my journal here:

Think I will remove the rear badge, leave the ones on the sides as they are relatively small and then judge whether or not to plastidip the one on the front grill in black.

I always prefer my cars to look discreet.
