I'm looking to add a catback to my stock MK7 R. I'm going back and forth between the two. What do you guys think?

As of right now I can get 8% off the AWE or 10% off the Milltek. I've been scouring around Instagram and found a bunch of videos. They seem pretty similar but it's still a tough choice.

I have the AWE catback switchpath on my golf R and with the APR highflow downpipe it sounds amazing and i couldn't be happier with it. Not sure if milltek makes a switchpath exhaust or how their exhaust sounds but regardless i say go with AWE you wont be sorry.

Milltek has more options for their exhausts but I wish with their valved ones they allowed the remote that GTI version gets which had like 5 different options for the flaps. Sadly they don't offer it for Rs

Yeah I agree. The AWE and Milltek seem to sound similar but the AWE has the remote which is a nice option.

But the problem with the remote is it's either off or on. They need some other functions like 10 percent or 30 percent open like milltek gti has or at least an auto function aka stock function like armytrix has

Why not mess with your stock valve settings for free via VAG com and get a downpipe. Less money and more power

I already have them coded to open all the time. My two main objectives are to make it louder and get 4" tips. I don't plan on tuning my R for a few years so I don't know that I want a downpipe.

I'm in the same boat as you OP. I have an S3 and want something valved that sounds good. I too am between Milltek, AWE and IPE. Sounds like IPE is hard to get in the US though.

If you get a cat less downpipe it'll help a little

Catless seems to make Rs sound super raspy. I tried researching the differences in the engines between the US and Europe and couldn't find anything. It makes sense though because the Euro versions always seem to sound good whereas the US seem tinny.
