I've just come back to my 2 year old Mk 7 after a few weeks away. During that few weeks away, I hired 3 different cars. The actual cars I received were down to the rental co. (Europcar).

I have to say that I am glad to be back in my Golf.

Of the rental cars, by far the worst was a Mitsubishi SUV. The auto gear box did not co-operate with the cruise control. On cruise, it would go from, say, a set speed of 80kph down to 75 and then kick down and accelerate back to 80+. The feel of the car was cheap. I could go on and on.
Slightly better, but not much was a Toyota Corolla. The Toyota needed constant attention to stop it wandering all over the road.
If I set the cruise of the Golf at 100kph, it stays there. If I centre it in the middle lane of a road, it stays there. It does not seek to wander all over the place.

So although the Gold has imperfections, I am glad to be back in it.
