My dad has had a 996 Turbo for 7 years now and has always talked about getting a short shifter, but he's the kind of person who will overshop things to the point where he just won't buy anything. So I decided to get him a short shifter for Christmas. Do you guys have any input on what short shifters are best, and what's best for the money? I've seen online that the stock 997 Turbo shifter is a huge upgrade, and I can verify as I have used the 997 shifter. The price is a bit steep at $450, so I was wondering if you guys had any better suggestions. He doesn't race the car, so it just has to be nice and smooth for street use. The main problem with the stock 996 shifter is that it's rubbery and the throws are long, which causes loss of boost during gear changes. Something a bit more notchy with much shorter throws would be ideal. Thanks
