Another poor heating in cabin thread

Car details: 1.4tsi Bluemotion tech SE, manufactured in 2013.

Problem: lukewarm heat in cabin. Needs a fairly long drive to achieve this and giving it high revs marginally improve the situation.

What have I tried already?: Replacement thermostat and water pump (as part of timing belt change).

Note that the car has not got the dreaded silicone bag and never did have.

The car gets up to temp fairly quickly and stays there.

Anybody got any ideas what would be a good next move? I can have a go at replacing the heater matrix, but am not sure if this would also require a back-flush of the system as most threads on this are for systems with the silicone bag which the car doesn't have. Another option is the coolant shut off valve, but I am not getting any error codes for the associated control module. Then there are secondary/auxiliary water pumps which some say was the cause of their poor heating in the cabin, but I am not losing coolant.

I would be very grateful for any help with this.
