2.0 Diesel (150) Idle Speed

Hi,

I wonder if drivers of the above engine could please confirm their cars idle speed (when stationary - which is different from that of rolling).

My seems to drop below 800 which seems quite low and produces a 'rattle' that can be felt within the car and along the steering wheel. I'm wondering if the idle speed has dropped or there is a more serious issue. I don't have power issues so i don't believe there is a more serious issue with the engine, but there again I'm no mechanic.

Of course, I am now out of warranty by two weeks and VW want a flat charge of £90 to hook up on the computer for diagnostics - no negotiation!

Thanks in advance
Danny

I'm not a diesel but my car idles at 700rpm. I would imagine the diesel would idle at least as low as my gas engine.

Hi,
I have a 2014, 150 tdi and mine idles at about that speed when the engine is warm. The only time it changes is when the dpf's doing a regen. or the weather is cold. So I'd say that there's nothing to worry about.
