17 x 8.5 Konig Heliogram on Golf R

I'm looking for a fairly lightweight 17 x 8.5 wheel for my 2016 Golf R for limited HPDE use. I looked at the Apex SM 10s and then saw the Konig Heliograms were about 2 lbs lighter per wheel and were about the same price. I was curious whether any Golf R owners had tried this size Heliogram and whether they provided adequate clearance for stock Golf R brakes.

Just a bump, because I'd like to know this as well (GTI with PP so same brake clearance concerns)

Apples to oranges.

Brake clearance is more dependent on wheel design than specs. Every wheel even within brand is designed differently, so not sure if related.

That being said, i got 18x9 Konig Rennforms & they didn't clear ST40 without 5mm spacer.

How much more do the ST40 stock out vs R brakes. Not sure.

Also look at Motegi. Quite a few have them on & based on memory they have ok clearance

I’m test fitting my 18x8.5 ET43 Konig Hypergrams to Golf R PP brakes in the next week or so. Will report back.

You’ll need Konig specific hub rings for whichever wheel you choose. I have a brand new set I’m selling for $25, just haven’t posted them yet.

DM me if you go the Konig route and I’ll get these to you. 🍻 🏎️

I've been looking into this, and so far nobody on the web seems to have tried the 17x8.5+42 Heliogram yet.

I messaged Konig's fitment specialists, and they confirmed the wheel fits over the GTI PP brakes (same as R). I haven't purchased the wheels yet to try but figured I'd share that.
