Will keep them on permanently. But they only take about 10 minutes or less to remove so when I want to change the look up a bit, it wont be hard to remove these :)

Since it only takes you 10min or less to remove...did you have to remove the tires to install them, or are you able to get them in and screwed on without removing them?

I'm thinking about getting these...

you'll have to remove the wheels to have access to the points of the car where you'll drill a couple holes. Really easy to do since you are drilling into plastic/felt material. Not a big chance you could hit metal or anything, just make sure you line it up well first.

I saw this Mk6 with mud guards and they look so good that I'm definitely thinking about getting a set

25 years ago nearly every Golf used to have them fitted, I never see them on any cars these days, I bet they are only available to order only. Personally I hate them, they look clumsy and they collect salty crud between the mud flap and body of the car.

USA.
I ordered mud flaps with car. Installed when I picked it up.
I love them. From behind they give the GTI a lower wider stance. With wheels spacers they are even more important to help protect paint.

public service call;)
I wished everyone else felt the responsibility. Getting hit by crap here and there I've never thought about it this way.
Thanks, I may reconsider.

The main benefit of the rear guards is that they reduce the road spray that swirls around behind the car and sticks to the rear bumper/ hatch / window. Much less need for the rear wiper and washer.

Not half as much that will get between the front wheel arch liners and front inner wings as a result of a huge gap in the liner around the suspension strut. Shocking of VW.
