I don't get why OP is so insistent on believing the mechanic.

I don't care what history I have with a mechanic, if so many people are telling me something is unusual or fishy, I'm looking for a second opinion.

Because he's already spent a lot of money on ordering a new motor. It's how casinos win... when you're already deep into it you're less likely to admit when it's time to call it.

Even with a new motor, I'd definitely take off the head and look inside the old one.

The "90k is the life of these motors" is clearly BS.

2015-2016 had different pistons then 2017+. I know this because my 2015 had a ringland failure which took out my engine with it at 32k. I spoke to one of the shops in my area who has seen a handful of them and had the ability to take one apart, I was told there is an update to the design. However....all four cylinders having low compression is highly unlikely.

You didn't launch it with the low fuel light on by chance did you?

Get a second opinion.

You and the others he's led down the road of despair. Show them the boneyard.

People come here (this forum or vortex) first, to complain. This is the first of this type of failure... Oddly enough.

These two statements sum up my confusion on this one. There's a heaping pile of MK7 engines with the same failure, but it's the first we've seen this situation here. If this was so common, I feel like there would be a lengthy discussion somewhere similar to the "Got a bad turbo? Let's track the issue..." thread.

This makes no sense at all.

I don’t know if I would trust a mechanic that had a bunch of high mileage VAG motors piled in the corner. That doesn’t make any sense.

It’s like if you went over to a ladies house during an amazing first date for a fun time. When you walk in you notice she has a pile of torsos in the corner of her living room. Why? Why would she not dispose of the bodies? I would seriously second guess a relationship with a woman that has hoarding tendencies. :D

This whole story is wonky.

Have your car towed to the nearest VW/Audi/Euro Independent Shop with an amazing rep in your area and get a second opinion.

The worst thing is that you’ll be out $100-$300 more for a tow and second opinion. Plus it opens up your options for building the motor if you decide to go down that route.

This shop is a euro independent shop in New Jersey and has a very good rep. I was there and witnessed the test being preformed, I saw all 4 of my cylinders fail the compression test and leak down test. I decided not to go to be dealer only because I’m apr stage 2 tuned and nothing would be covered by the dealership.

The only way something could catastrophically damaged all four cylinders at once is if something got through the manifold, made it past the valves then to each cylinder somehow. The firing order is 1 3 4 2. That means it would've had to be a stream of debris that magically goes into each intake stroke. So improbable that it's nearly impossible. The other possible cause was an oil related failure. Somehow ecu did not pick up, or it happened too suddenly and you lost pressure and ran dry for a lengthy amount of time (one to two minutes). Still though, this is quite curious. You sure it's not the turbo and dealer is an idiot?

I’m 100% sure it’s not the turbo or the dealer. But I will get more info when I pick up the car and I’m also going to pick up my old motor and open it up and see what happened exactly.
