I'mma hijack this a little bit... Would a worn start/stop button be replaced under warranty?

I just purchased a used but good condition start stop switch to replace the worn one in my 2015 GTI Autobahn. Wondering if there is a DYI on this anywhere. Thanks

Have a look at Golfdave's retrofit of a TPMS button as this show you how to remove the buttons - just take out the stop start switch and replace it with your new one.

This is actually a pretty easy mod. My 2015 button was peeling and would cut me. I got the new version from ebay and swapped it out pretty easily. I made a DIY.

I ordered this one from eBay, received it...plugged it in, light came on but push button did nothing? I have the proximity key...does this make any difference?

I think there was something wrong with the switch itself. Got a refund...I did not want to wait for another one to come from China...so I ordered a VW one from eBay. Got that one today...installed, good to go.

I just installed my ebay switch today - and it also does not work :(

The worst part is I put the badgeskins protector on it first before I tested it.

Is the part# for the offical VW one different? or is it still 5GG959839? want to make sure I get the right one this time...

luckily it's a 2-pack so I have one left. it was a pretty good fit, thought it would be a good idea to prevent the letters from peeling again.

I messaged the ebay seller for a refund, they asked me to try and install it again first lol. I can't imagine that will work, but I am going to try and see if I can open it up and just transfer the button part to my original switch.

The part number called out on the VW parts website for the MK7 GTI is 5G1-959-839-A-3Q7. The eBay seller part number is slightly different 5GG959839. Not sure if that is what is causing the problem.
