All wheel drive in a performance car is a hugely attractive feature in a place where there's water on the road so frequently. Also, hatchbacks have a lot more appeal than lumbering SUVs in the tight urban environs found throughout Europe (is it still permissible to include Great Britain in Europe?). That's part of the reason why Golf R's are relatively more ubiquitous over there than in the US. And being desirable to own also means desirable to sell.

I couldn't find a golden toilet locally, but I did get a steal of a deal on a 65" Vizio. And I was able to get it loaded in the car with the hatch closed:
