You can get an entire new key shell for about 5 bucks on aliexpress and transfer the electronics to it.

Or transfer the buttons over to the old key, which is what I did.

Thanks both, I'm going to pick up a unit from ebay and transfer over the buttons.
BTW, called my local VW dealer this afternoon, seems they do not sell just the button pad, £220 to get a new key coded is only option/

I saw those, but these are the full keys, instead of the $5 shells that are readily available for the three button versions. I only need the front piece with the buttons because they are getting mushy like the ones in the Vortex thread that I linked.

$30 isn't too bad for a donor key, but I will switch to my spare key for now. Thank you for taking a look!

Also really interested in this. My buttons are really worn and I would really like to replace them. Unfortunate that a lot of vendors only sell the old style key.
