8/3/18: This most likely wont contain all the updates, but all the major ones for the most part that I can remember hah!

It definitely has been a busy summer for me. Havent been able to post much updates. I got to race a couple cars! Didn't get vids though :(

Anywho, Since my JB4 install, it turned out the BT module on the JB4 was defective, and the range of BT was cut short. The bluetooth range wouldn't even reach in the car. I would have to put my phone 1 ft away from the module under the hood of the car for it to connect.

I sent the module back to jb4 support and they hooked me up with their NEW secret released BT Rev 3.6 module! I was one of the very few that got to try these new kits!

Fixed my short range issue! Finally the JB4 works as intended!

I recently got to installing a CTS catted downpipe as well, but recently went for a drive to long beach, and the fitment between the downpipe and turbo was not fully flushed. Thus after 1,500 mi. While driving in the city, the clamp fell off and my downpipe and turbo disconnected. Scared the shit out of me, I thought the car was going to explode! Went under hood only to realize it was the clamp. I put it back together for now, and ordered a new clamp and gasket to put on! Hopefully that works, and apparently the clamp and gasket are supposed to be replaced everytime? I have no idea. I heard people use the old ones and it works just fine. Also going to get a nut to place on the otherside to prevent the bolt from coming out again.

Then gave the car a solid wash and wax :)

Also, I made an instagram for Galahad (the name of the car lol, im an idiot). @mk7galahad

DP clamp absolutely has to be retightened after a few drive cycles. Did you not do this? I've taken mine off 3 times without issue. I don't think you needed a new one, just to tighten it again.

Hah yeah I thought of it as a 'one-and-done' type of job. Guess I was wrong. I'm going to try a locknut.

I probably didn't need a new one, but I feel more peace of mind knowing I used a new one? It wasnt super expensive so I don't mind.

Generally are the ears of the v-band suppose to touch? or at least be within a 1 inch gap from what I read.

8/15/18: So ever since I flashed the car back to stock, I've missed the power I lost. I had to flash the car back to stock for smog purposes, and after that, had no way of getting it back.

I was unsuccessful in obtaining the previous owner's uniconnect cable. It was just hard to communicate with the previous owner and after months of effort, I decided no longer to try.

HOWEVER, there is a win at the end of this story!

I contacted Unitronic to ask if there was ANYTHING I could do. It turns out, all I need to do was pay for a transfer of license to get the tunes under my name, since the tunes are assigned to the vehicle, AKA the one I own now.

Harris, of Unitronic, and the best kind of human there is, was able to help me out, and am now in the process of getting the power back ^^

Stay tuned for some updates and possibly vids!

Thank you to everyone who has been following my story, as well as newcomers for reading into my story. My journal is not so much a race journal, but rather a story of my encounters and endeavors of owning a performance vehicle, what I come to learn, as well as a life learning experience in the cars and performance industry.

I can safely say that owning this GTI has taught me new passions for the car world. I now understand things that I did not in the past while owning the Honda Fit, and I am glad I took this leap together with you guys reading my story.

Thank you.

9/25/18:

Yes indeed boys, I am tuned back to Unitronic Stage 2. It feels good. It feels really really good. The crackles are great, and it's fun. Some like it, some dont. I'm glad that being DSG, putting it in Drive mode turns off the crackles, so it's only on when I want it to.

It is getting a bit annoying to post onto imgurl and then copy to copy and paste each individual photo into each message. So i'm just going to create a photo album and share the link so those whom are interested can see photos of what I am referencing in each update.

So far I have also installed a CTS BOV for that classic turbo blow-off sound. Boy does it sound good! I bought it used, and had to re-oil the piston. Before hand I was getting a lot more turbo surge or flutter, but I think it's better now.

Here's a video: https://youtu.be/0CQcgtURBsc

1st is a surge, the following revs are fine. My guess is that it's just the re-balance of the piston after assembly, and it's all good now.

11/15/18:

Its been some time, a lot of things have changed career-wise. I got into a Master's program for Nursing, so it looks like I wont be poor and will be able to fund my racing projects in the future!

Lately, have been just doing little de-rattling within the car. Im sure many of us can agree that our cars can have slight rattles that build up over time, so I went ahead and did some maintenance, starting with the sunroof.

Installed a CTS Turbo Inlet Pipe. Im sure the performance gains are negligible, but if the turbo spools easier and faster, hell im in :)

Also topped off on coolant. Our cars I guess burn through that stuff easily.

So far the car runs great, no issues at all!
