EQT Vortex - MQB Turbo

Hi All,

I have a new turbo going in the car today, and will be posting my experience with tuning, driveability, and performance results in this thread.

Tuning will be via Eurodyne Maestro, courtesy of Frank Mabo.

Performance measurements will be provided via Dragy.

Driveability... just my opinions.

I'll answer any questions, but keep in mind I am just a consumer. Ed @ EQT has an account on here, so I would expect him to chime in at some point.

Here is a link to EQT's turbo:

https://eqtuning.com/products/fujin-vortex-turbocharger

Thanks for your attention - looking forward to sharing some results!

I'll be keeping up with this thread. Trying to narrow down between EQT, Tomioka, or IS38F. Let us know how it goes, we're looking forward to it.

Ed would have to answer that.

I made it home on the new turbo... So far so good. There is more lag than the is38, but not a ton. Might be able to work it out with tuning.

More to come...

Welp I have messaged them to ask them where "The entire turbo is manufactured, assembled, and precision balanced in a state of the art facility." is.

I'll assume this uses an upgraded bearing, but did they use a larger diameter shaft like the Tomioka as well? I will be ordering a turbo upgrade in a week or 2 and this puts another player in the game. Damn you.

They say the "state of the art facility" is "overseas".

Update: Taiwan.

Hmm, not bad. Surprised it's not China.

Tomioka Racing and this kit seems so similar. I asked Tomioka Racing where theirs were made and they said USA.

Bearings are sourced genuine IHI bearings per EQT. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing. Thoughts?

I think Dan at dbv2 summed it up and it made sense to me. They come from same factory (as does this Rocket turbo in Brazil). IHI bearing bored to fit a TD06 wheel with turbine and compressor specs you want.

China...Taiwan... does it really matter anymore?
