Where to mount Radar Detector Mute Module

Hey guys

Just figured I would poll on where you guys think I should mount a radar detector mute module.

https://www.escortradar.com/store/direct-wire-smartcord-blue.html

I've already pre-fit the wiring going from the fuse panel, up the a-pillar and across the headliner to the mirror. (surprisingly easy)

My initial thoughts were to mount the mute button module inside the lower storage compartment. This is in front of the fuse panel and the part can be replaced if I somehow botch the install (drilling holes, etc).

The other thought was to use one of the blank buttons in the console by the shifter however finding a euro spec button for the parking assist or auto hold is proving to be difficult (my autobahn only has Mode & TCS off )

Looking to do a cleaner install rather than just sticking the module on a dash surface with double sided tape - this is not armature hour!

Please let me know what you think!

I have an Escort Solo S2 stuck to my Mk7 GTI headliner above the sun visor using velcro tape. It works great, requires no wiring, is not visible from the outside, and can be easily removed.

Here's were I have mine mounted. I just velco'd the unit to the underside of this location. The storage bin keeps the cable wires snug and tight; this is in-turn keeping it tight up against the top of storage area. I put some transparent tape over the far right flashing LED light; as it tended to be a bit bright to my eyes when driving. The tape keeps it from being so blinding directly to my eyes. Pressing the mute button is a quick stretch of my finger while my hand is on the shifter.

Going through this same thought process, does anyone have pics of how and where they mounted theirs? my Direct Wire Smartcord should be here tomorrow. Just cant decide the best place that is discrete yet easy to access.

Directly to the left of the left side window defroster vent coming off the dash. Small strip of industrial black Velcro. Might not meet your aesthetic but looks custom on mine.

I mounted mine to the right of the rear view mirror using the suction cup mount it came with.

Far from a great picture but this shows the gist of it. I had popped it off as I was sewing on my steering wheel cover that day. [emoji851]

I mounted mine on the left side of the steering column. Very easy to reach and find with out looking.

Ok here’s how I decided to go, I used clear 3M command strips in. Are I wanted to remove but it has held solid for a couple weeks, I just finally got a chance to take a pic or two.

Command strip are a great idea. They're not supposed to leave any trace on a hard surface. Check to see their supposed operating temperature range.
