If you get you oil changed at the dealer you HAVE to adhere to a 1,000mi oil change interval.

Castrol is nothing more than repackaged frying oil, and VW does this so they can void your warranty in the dead of night.

I ASSume you meant 10k miles. Still, that line is BS - a dealership will change your oil every day, if you're crazy enough to be willing to pay for it. There is no "requirement" that they only change it at any certain interval.

As for "repackaged cooking oil" - just go away.

There's heaps of people who split frog hairs over which oil to put in their car, and are casual conspiracy theorists about warranties and longevity.

Any 5w-40 that is VW 502 & MB 229.5 rated will perform more than adequately in this application.
