How's this sound to you? I hear a loud tick. 38k.
This is before intake cleaning (spray) and oil change. Throttle propped to around 2k rpm.
Near as I can tell it's coming from near the driver's-side rear of the engine bay; not sure if that's apparent in the video. Maybe the HPFP?

I think it's the injectors. Is it only present from ~1500rpm - ~2500rpm?

I also wondered about the injectors. But no driveability / power loss issues that I can speak of. No codes, nothing. I gave away my old Android phone to a friend a couple weeks ago so I can't run an OBD11 scan right now.

Honestly I never really noticed it until I had the cover off to do an intake cleaning and oil change. It seems to hide many sins. I don't notice inside the car. I looked for other videos online and they seem more or less the same at idle. So I'm beginning to think it's "normal" but was looking for opinions from other owners.

Here's a video with a few seconds of startup & idle; I think mine's similar.

Here's another video I did just after my first one during the cleaning process (using the CRC GDI cleaner). I was trying to keep it around 2000 rpm but had it anywhere up to about 3500 rpm, down to idle and shutdown, and it still has the ticking. But not heard inside even with the door open. (It might also be good for a few laughs.)

Our 1.8 Jetta does this and has done it since day one. It is just the injectors that are loud, and the engine cover kind of suppresses it a little.
