Waze on CarPlay blows

I have had good luck with Waze since it became available with CarPlay. It is still my choice for GPS on the interstate because of the police reports. However, I just spent the weekend at Disney World and Waze was pretty useless around the park. At two different parks, it routed me back to the entrance when I was trying to exit. The built in VW navigation routed perfectly around the parks.

I use nav 4 days a week, still learning my territory for work. I have been using waze most of the time with carplay, and it has been great. I combine it with escort live, and have yet to find a speed trap that I haven't been warned about one way or another, even in the absolute country.

Running latest betas of iOS and am on the waze beta testflight.

I have the exact same set up, and am frustrated that the search bar does not disappear like it should. It takes up too much screen space!

Tap the screen?

I always put a destination in, unless I am just going a couple of miles to my next stop, and haven't noticed this behavior.

Nah the search bar stays visible, unless you enter a destination.

As others have mentioned being in WiFi and trying to use Waze causes lots of problems. Other than that I have very few problems with it.

Once a month I would say it crashes on me, I use it every day commuting so that’s not too much.

Before it was on iOS I had a cheap android phone I used just for Waze and honestly it had more issues than on my iPhone but also more features. Could of also been the cheap phone.

Waze just blows, period, IMHO. Yeah, I'm in the minority with that opinion, but I've never understood the love. Tried it again recently and yup, still blows.

I just spent 2 weeks in a Camry rental, and believe me boys, VW really did a great job with MIB2. The Entune system in the Camry was gawd-awful in comparison, on many levels.

I'm with you on that. Google navigation is just so much better. it's way more detailed and more accurate with the GPS. Google tells you which lanes to use for exits and turns; it even will tell you to look for landmarks (ex: turn left on said street, there will be a McD's on the corner)

I'm currently driving a rented Camry, and I can verify this statement. It's awful. You'd think that simply plugging your phone into the USB port would make everything work, but no. You'd think bluetooth audio would just start working when the car connects with your phone, but again, no. You have to start the music app on your phone before it will do anything. It also keeps asking me if I want to download a bunch of Entune apps for whatever reason.

The combination of MIB2/Android Auto is vastly superior, which is surprising considering it's a Toyota.

I had Entune in what was otherwise a great 4Runner. If you want to know where 4th quartile code writers go to find jobs, it’s Toyota’s Entune Division. It’s really a horrific interface to inflict on a person.

Doesn't the app run through your phone? Not all phones are created equal. I've seen some where Waze works just fine and others that can barely make a phone call. Background apps etc will slow it down or make it crash. Carplay is a neat idea but you're just adding another middle man to complicate the issue.

For me, Waze is the most stable Carplay app I use; however, messages and spotify consistently crash or freeze on me. I don't even try to read or send messages through carplay anymore. It just hangs up...

I used Waze on an iPhone 6S for close to 2 years, never had an issue with it. I've been using Waze on Android Auto for about a year now, and have had no issues with it. Apple finally caved in and admitted that most people would rather use any other navigation app than the bag of dogshit that is Apple Maps, but in typical Apple fashion, they've found a way to make it not work well with Carplay, so you'll end up using Apple Maps instead.
