Daytime running lights & indicators

Hi all,

New Golf 7 GT Diesel owner, 3 weeks since it arrived and still running in but delighted so far and averaging mid 60mpg so far (first 1000 miles).

Driving behind a car with highly reflective boot other day and noted that if I indicate right, the right Daytime Running Light switches off. Couldn't think why it would so checked when on the drive and yes, indicate right and RHS DRL goes out, Turn off indicator, back comes the DRL. Indicate left and the LHS DRL goes out, cancel indication and it comes back on.

Happier that it happens on left and right but wondered if anyone else had noticed and why it may be this way?

All suggestions welcome!

As far as I've understood it, the DRL turns off as to not overshine the indicators.
