(9/10) $500 Helix subwoofer and installation (great deal at dealer for once!)
(9/10) $50 034 Dogbone insert
(9/10) $700 VWR lowering springs and installation
(8/10) $70 Raceland spacers
(8/10) $500 CTS catted downpipe and new gasket, self-install
(8/10) $60 OBD Eleven
(6/10) $120 Bluetooth for JB4
(6/10) $20 Black front/rear VW emblems
(5/10) $50 Dashcam for drag strip
(5/10) $120 deAutokey LEDs
(2/10) $70 Side Mirrors (waste of money)
(0/10) $5 stickers I took off when I remembered I'm 40+ years old
That's around $3,300. I figure I could probably get $800-$1,000 back out from the JB4/bluetooth/downpipe/misc. if I had to. I won't count buying jackstands, a low-profile jack, tools, etc.
NOW, LET THE JUSTIFICATION BEGIN!
I bought my 2016 DSG S brand new at height of Dieselgate for $23K -- normally I always buy one year old to let someone else take the 20-25% depreciation hit, but this was a solid deal and I wanted CarPlay, which was just out. Financed 60 months @ 1.9% -- that's almost-free money.
I've gotten a shit-ton of joy out of my $26.3K ($23 + 3.3) so far.
The only cars I cross-shopped at the time were 2011-13 BMW 335s, which I love, but which were "old" and likely to cost much more over time; I keep my cars for 10 years.
END JUSTIFICATION.
Plus this shit is real, real fun. The next things on my list are a FMIC, DSG tune, and a Dragy.
