Slots on the rear view mirror assembly cap?

Hello!

Working on mounting my dashcam. I have a 2018 Autobahn, the camera housing assembly comes to a point with this part:

I am considering placing the dashcam there (I have a few options I am considering).

I was curious if anyone knows that those little slots are for? I don't want to block them if they are important. From what I can tell, no sensors sit in there, figure it could be to prevent condensation on the cameras or something.

I couldn't find images of the w/o camera version (5G0858548B9B9).

I’ve been trying to find out the exact same thing for the exact same reason.

However looking at photos of professional dash cam installs, none of them are placed in front of that grill.

I’ve just bought a BlackVue DR750S, which I’m going to mount like shown in the pro install in the pic, then all the wires will be butted up nicely to the side of the rear view mirror housing.

Yeah, I am considering that position as well. Seems to be the best option. Ideally, I'd like it on the passenger side, need to play around with the mount to make sure the camera isn't upside down.
