I believe you can flash Stage 2 with cat (non-race pipe) map. That will leave the sensors active I think. But that would also mean you can catch a CEL.

After 2 years, you'll have to flash to stage 1 and install an O2 spacer every time inspection comes up, then flash back.

My GTI with Stage 2 Eurodyne and a Downpipe (with no cat) passed NYS inspection, technically it would fail the visual check for catalytic converter but it was my brother in laws shop so......

Which DP do you have? Do you have some sort of spacer configuration?

For visual yes. But I think he's saying he passed the OBD scan portion. I'm assuming it meant he has all readiness checks completed even without a cat.

Like I said, the BIL looked the other way and passed him, even though he should have failed.

The reason why he didn't go into detail because he knows what his BIL did was illegal and can cost him his license, fines, and jail time if caught.

According to the complaints, the defendants bypassed these procedures by performing “clean scans,” a fraudulent process that substitutes data from a secondary vehicle. The inspector first entered the identification number, model information and license plate number for the vehicle in need of certification. The inspector then connected the DMV computer to a secondary vehicle, and used its data to “pass” the safety and emissions tests for the vehicle in need of certification. A fraudulent inspection certificate was issued for the untested vehicle, which would potentially have failed an inspection or was not even present.
That's probably how the clean emissions results were done and documented to the DMV.

The defendants are all being charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, a class D felony that carries a maximum sentence of 2 1/3 to 7 years in prison. Other charges include Issuing a False Certificate, a class E felony carrying a maximum sentence of 1 1/3 to 4 years in jail, and Illegal Issuance of an Emission Certificate of Inspection, an unclassified misdemeanor that carries a fine of $15,000 per count, which could subject defendants to millions of dollars in fines if they were to be convicted of all counts.

To clear it up part of the inspection is a visual to confirm there is a catalytic converter, my brother in law looked the other way on this part.

With the tune my car passed the obd portion without issue which is the part that really matters.

Also, most shops don't bother to check over everything required in an inspection, they just look at the items that they can make easy money off of like brakes and suspension work.

Most shops only bother getting an inspection license and equipment for the amount of cars they can bring into the shop that then need subsequent work to pass.

Which DP setup do you have? Spacers?

Currently have an APR AWD downpipe for MK7s available if anyone is interested. Installed less than a month ago so like new condition with all hardware, brackets, etc. Downpipe itself is awesome but with AWE Touring catback it's just too loud for me.

How much are you looking to get for it? I'm only lightly looking in to this so I probably won't bite if unless the price is crazy. Someone else viewing this thread may want it.

New they're 899, I'm asking $600. Knocked off $150 since Stg 2 is one time use code, and another $150 since its been installed.
