I didn't say anything about some Amsoil oil not being certified to VW 502 specs. I actually posted in the post above yours (post #4), that Amsoil now had some VW approved oils... I said the reason why independent verification is used is to protect consumers because what may be perceived by a boutique oil company as an insignificant formulation change to save money or cover a broader market may be an issue to some engines. There is no means to know without proper independent testing.

I have used Amsoil for years in my old 2000 Celica GTS. It still runs strong up to 8000+ RPM with 260k miles on it. I am considering using it in my 2019 GTI on my next oil change even though it doesn't meet the 508 spec. Not worried about warranty since I already have a EQT stage 1 tune.
