Coilovers or Springs?

Wanting to lower my MK7 1.4 TSI by 40mm-50mm and can't decide between springs and coilovers, preferably I would like to keep the cost down whilst making it as reliable as possible, 50mm is the limit for lowering as my insurance said they won't cover me over it, so this begs the question, coilovers or springs? Baring in mind coilovers for my car are around £200-£250 and springs range from £90-160.

Also can anyone tell me definitively if my car has the torsion beam suspension or the multilink suspension? 2013 March MK7 1.4 TSI SE (122HP) Thank you.
