Why??!!

The two FRS/BRZ up above would look awesome if not for the wheels.

This is in no way a unique phenomenon to cars though. Many, many, people wear ridiculous clothing or pick ostentatious hair colors to say "Look at me!"

They know they look ridiculous (in their heart of hearts) but their nature still tells them to seek attention constantly. Negative attention is just as valuable to these types since it's not about affirming their choices. It's only about getting you to look even if your reaction is "wtf?"

The difference between this and loud clothing, though, is that you can usually walk in your ugly pants, but you can hardly drive in these cars....

I saw a bunch of these hella confusing cars at a local tuner car show recently. I have no interest, but my son wanted to go so went with him for kicks and giggles.. and pizza.

Back in the 80's I remember seeing cars with just front super negative camber driving around stupid in Japan.
