Hello -

I am currently in the market for coilovers for MK7 Golf R that retain DCC function

So far I have found two (2) options:

1) KW Coilover Kit V1
http://www.kwsuspensions.com/produc...ilover-kit-v1-vw-golf-vii-gti-r-1028000r.html

2) Bilstein B16 (DAMPTRONIC) - SUSPENSION KIT
https://www.bilstein.com/us/en/prod...4650556985466750&SubModelId=78192055976998175

The KW option is in my price range of around $1,500 but I have heard of some people having trouble with it

Any feedback welcome, thank you

Bilstein. Heard HORRIBLE things about the KW’s. Look up user testimonials of the KW DCC coils.

Edit: sorry, you’ve seen it yourself. Just get the B16’s

Do you know if it's possible to pair the Bilstein Struts & Shocks w/ lowering springs?

Kind of like a compromise between upgrading suspension over stock and not dropping $3500?

Example...

Bilstein Struts:

Bilstein Shocks:

Yes! Talked with the engineers at SEMA last year about this and they recommended Eibach springs....although the 034 springs were not out yet...so I see no issues with them either.

Okay thanks! So this would be like a compromise essentially to not getting the KW kit but also not spending $3,500 on Bilstein kit...

It's been a bit of time, curious what you went with in the end.

Bilstein, if you must. But why toss out the stock DCC hardware? It's quite competent, unless you're an all-out track rat.

You can get much lower on the Bilsteins and they will be much better damped for the track as well as fast road use. Plus, they still allow soft, medium and hard settings just like factory DCC.
