Acrylate / Burning Smell

Hello, I've got a 2015 Golf TDI SEL. This morning when idling the car to warm it up (it's about 24°F in Michigan now), I noticed a burning smell in the cabin. It appears to be coming from the HVAC system. I've smelled it before, but never this strong...

The closest smell I can relate it to is the smell of super glue before it's setup. Or even burning Acrylic.

After the car was driven for a few minutes, the smell dissipated.

I plan on changing the filter soon, but I don't anticipate this being the culprit. I was thinking of an aux heater, but upon further research, the TDIs don't have an aux heater like my MK5 TDI does.

Any ideas? I'd love to fix this, as the smell gives me migraines... THANKS!!

It wasn't in the middle of a regen was it?

I don't think so.... The motor was bone cold upon startup. And idle rpm was about 850rpm.

Could it be something stuck on the exhaust? My R had a burning smell and it turned out to be a plastic grocery bag that got melted on to the exhaust.

I finally discovered what the smell was. It happened to be a small exhaust leak at the v-band post DPF. Must have been small enough to close up when it warmed up, but leak when cold.
