Does anyone know how the following can be connected to the 12V cigarette lighter outlet in the center console?

Not without opening up the diameter of the hole, it is bigger than the oem one.

Which means I have to remove the lighter outlet altogether, etc. etc.

Yes it does, I was looking at them after my battery failed but they are not a direct fit. You can get ones you plug into the socket but the reviews always say they fail quickly.
