My son is working on purchasing a Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2007 imported to Sweden from Texas US year 2012.
It’s with the “famous” 2,5 litre engine known for the “ringland” issue. The engine have gone through a total makeover with Wiseco pistons, Eagle rods Arp head bolts 10000 km ago. Not to aggressive map, about 380 hp.
The question is: Are an US car rust protected? So far the car is just used in the summer in Sweden but will be used all over the year in northern Sweden. Cold but not so much road salt in this part of the country.
I have recommended VW GTI or if he can wait my VW Golf R… That’s another scenario….The dream of an STI overrides at the moment.
