I continue to believe the R is a steal for what you get vis-a-vis anything else the Germans have to offer these days. That said, £2,975 for the Akrapovic exhaust (not available OEM in the States) is steep. I appreciate that it's titanium and thus lightweight, but at that price it's approaching 10% of the cost of an MT car, and IMHO the money can be better spent elsewhere.

Thanks for the link to this great read! If i were to go with any of the Hot Hatches down the road the Golf R would be the car. Perhaps I'm a little bias as well!

I gotta wonder if the asking price for the Akrapovic is worth it over a valved Remus or AWE. We’ve got a variety of exhausts in our local R club, and Remus and AWE sound noticeably better than the others I’ve heard.
