Track Day Phone Mount For Lap Timing (Not Recording Video)

Hi all,

Anyone have good phone mount recommendations? I want to mount my phone somewhere visible so I can track my lap times with my phone. I am not going to record video so it doesn't have to be on the windshield but it must be secure since I really don't want to worry about my phone falling off the mount and rolling around my car during a session. Also, prefer something more inexpensive since this would only be used during track days. My thought is that the best option will be either suction cup on the windshield or mounted to the dash in some way.

I have a ProClip mount and it's rock solid but they are a little pricey. There's a few different locations, I use the mount that puts it just to the right of the radio.

Yea proclip was what I saw as well, it seems to be well reviewed for being sturdy.

I’ve been using a Ram Mount for my iPhone for some time and have changed out the clip portion as I’ve upgraded my device.

Keeping the device in sight of the road helps when on track

I've been using a simple magnetic air vent mount (they're all over Amazon) for a couple years now and it works great, you can see it in action here: https://youtu.be/McOsgFYtdio

I just make sure to stick the metal plate to the outside of my phone case to make sure it has the strongest hold. It's a little ugly having a big black circle on the back of my phone, but it's worth it.

I use RAM mounts for my video cam and phone. They are rock solid. Work amazing. Well worth the price.

The only issue I've ever had is when I extended the arm a bit too long and the camera started getting a little unstable, no shaking blurry mess like other mounts can, but just a little rolling shutter effect. You can see that in this video of mine here, also my phone is on via a RAM mount in this video as well:
