Looks like dealers ordered more than a few for inventory so you'll probably see a bunch of spektrums showing up over the remainder of the year.

A fiend of mine at a dealership here said there was a 2 or 3 month window for people to come in and order a Spektrum color, dealers where no one came in to place an order (which his dealer was) were told by VWoA they had to purchase at least one. Basically if you didn’t order by whatever the last day was, you weren’t able to even though the number allotted for the US wasn’t reached.

At their dealer they took a vote and ordered 91 Blue, which will be here within the next week.

The latest I heard was that VW will be discontinuing the standard Golf models but keeping the GTI and R alive for 2020. This make sense because the I.D.3 EV will be out in 2020 and they anticipate a BIG move to EVs. VW accepted over 10,000 orders for the I.D.3 after opening pre-orders for Europe.

Talking about the current gen not the mk8. I think there is a strong chance the 7.5 R is done after 2019 and the 8 R will be a 2021 model. There’s always been a gap between R models during generation changes in the US.

The Spektrum option alone is $2500. Maybe that's the $4k difference you're seeing in MSRP vs a base Golf R? :confused:

Msrp is 45.4k with spektrum and the dealer is asking 49.5K. it's one of the cliff green links I believe.
