That's great and all but what about that Guards Red 964 in your garage?

That's what it looks like at least...

But for real this is awesome, I dream of doing something like this.

Was reading this on vortex. Didn't realize it's on here too.

Amazing build.

I really like the black hood and fenders. Gives it an angry look like a ram. Of course at my age it would definitely be painted, but still think it looks really good.

Thanks, the black parts were just temporary. Everything is painted now. I'll pull it out tomorrow, wash it and take some better pics.

Even if they did allow it its still not made in Tungsten silver....& I almost did the conversion 4yrs ago..as I would have converted mine as the wagon is not made in manual..(DSG only)...."marketing" is the only reason...


I found a R hatch with all the panels dented, but the engine & chassis all ok..so only special items would have been the exhaust & fuel tanks...& wiring is ok...I've done a few buildings & other cars….

It does have a VR6 swap, I built it for a buddy back in 2001. He daily drove it for 8 years and then parked it in 2009. Back in 2015 he gave it to me, it still runs and drives like a champ, just needs some love. I was hoping to get it back on the road this year but it looks more like next year after the wagon budget.

Unbelievable lol.
That is literally my trifecta. A fast wagon, a 964, a VR MK2.
One day...when I have the extra space...and $$$.

I had a MK2 Jetta with a VR swap about 12 years ago, but I just never really finished it and then sold it when I moved for college.
I NEED to have one again, but it will probably be in a GTI.

During college, I had a chance to pick up a 964 (91 C2, a little over 100k miles, probably could have bought it for $20k) but I talked myself out of it.
One of my biggest mistakes lol. But it just was not practical at the time (however if I would have known that it would be worth at least double today maybe I could have talked myself into it hah).

Fast forward to today, there is an 1980 SC in the garage that holds me over.
But it is not a 964. And I miss VR6 noises.
Anyway, thank you for letting me reminisce in your thread.

Looking forward to seeing more...of all cars hah.
