How reliable is the motor with the IS38?

As reliable as with the Is20 as long as you don’t pass the limits for the stock internals it should be the same.

I see because I was seeing threads with blown motors and turbos and I was wondering if something similar might happen with this motor.

It could. We don’t know the full limitations of the 1.8. The 1.8 has similar rods to the 2.0 and I’m sure the pistons are the same material. However the 2.0 has a forged crank while the 1.8 doesn’t.

The is38 turbo isn’t being fully pushed on my car yet and I don’t have a massive torque spike at the beginning of my rev range that kills motors.
