pooling water... is it a concern?

I park on a hill facing down, and when it rains, water pools on the back bumper skin. It gets deep enough that the bottom seam of the hatch panel is submerged by about 1/8". Is this a long-term concern for rust developing along that seam? The car might sit for days at a time like this. Parking facing up the hill is not an option.

Just drill a bunch of holes in the bumper so the water can drain:D

In all seriousness though, a good coat of sealant on that area would make me feel a lot better about that sitting water. Unless the car is sitting for days at a time with that water there, I really wouldn't worry much about it.

This happens to me as well, even when parked on level ground. Not sure why VW would allow the bumper to slope towards the car vs. away from it.

I used to have the same concerns but to date (3+ years), nothing has happened as far as water infiltration or indication of rust.
