Pardon my ignorance, but how do I know what resonator will be quieter? Is it just design, or does a longer resonator control more volume? Thanks.
I would recommend reading this thread by GTIJake on obtaining your desired exhaust sound... http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33309
Also if you are interested in a muffler delete, vote and post on this thread. Some vendors have showed interested in making one for out cars... http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40657
If you plan on keeping your downpipe
- Muffler delete creates good sound at a lower cost (Keep the OEM resonator to keep drone to a mimimum) read the above post for more info on resonators
- Catbacks like AWE Track, Magnaflow, APR, CTS and many other seem to have good sound at a much higher cost
If you are replacing your downpipe
- Muffler delete is not recommended (by most) Lots of drone.
- Resonated Catback (AWE touring, CTS with resonator, Apr with resonator... ect) seem to produce the best sound... If paired with the correct size resonator (read the above post)
