Looking to purchase the Pioneer GM-D8601 amp and Pioneer TS-SWX2502 10” sub for my GTI.

For anyone who has gone this route, did you have to replace the stock headunit and speakers? I was originally going to go with the Helix sub/amp, but I’m not sure the $600+ to buy it and have it installed is worth it.

How cute. Look at the pot calling the kettle black. Ignore him.

You don't need to swap head unit (nor should you as there are things like driving mode integrated into it). Stock speakers aren't bad either. Drop that amp/sub in and enjoy.
