but why? i think i have a windshield for the sensor but i dont have the sensor, cuz it looks exactly like a windshield made for the sensor

https://imgur.com/a/o8VyO

i think if i can remove the mount point for the mirror i could install one

Now I see.
Yes you can, I’ve done the same!
You have a humidity sensor for climatronic, which you replace with rain/lights/humidity sensor.
On my car, the wiring was already there to connect bcm and sensor, as well as auto switch to bcm.
On some newer model golfs (from my14 I think) they removed wire connecting the switch and bcm, so you would need to wire it yourself.

thats great news, the wiring part isnt the diffcult part. the diffcult part is removing this humidity sensor without cracking the windshield. do you know how to do it?

That’s also very easy. It’s only held on 2 clips if I remember well. Clean the surface before installing a new one

You don't remove any glue.
First you remove black plastic trim, than twist hard the mirror mount so it comes off.
Than you pry open 2 clips on sensor sides and remove it.
Than you clean the surface in the hole where the sensor was and put the new one in.
You can buy the kit from the link you posted, it has all the parts needed.
You also need to do coding.

ok sounds easy enough, but the kit i wanted has wiring and from reading your post i see that i have the wiring there already so i just need a light sensor and the extra cable for the auto position?

and can you give me the part number to the light sensor please?

i found 3 p/n

5Q0 955 559

8UD 955 559 B

5Q0 955 547

which one is the correct one for me? (RLHS)

This is all I needed, plus coding.
Pull out your headlight switch, and check the red wiring connector. If there is only one wire missing, than you don't need any extra cable/wiring (from switch to BCM).
As far as I know, any golf with humidity sensor uses wiring harness which also support RLH sensor.

the link you sent for the rain sensor says only rain sensor and not rain light humidity should i buy it?

i already have the auto switch but i have 8 wires, do i need a special wire for it?

It's good. You check by part number 8U0 955 559 B
If it's missing 2 wires on switch, than you need new wire to BCM.
