When did your break-in smell go away?

The new car smell stayed for around 6 months with the fabric seats. The peeled cow seats it stays for around a year.



That is the only smell I noticed apart from the first long run where everything was burning off engine/gearbox as it got up to temperature and stayed for a few hours.

Mine still gives off a burned-plastic type odor and it's at around 2,500 miles, especially after longer drives. I don't smell it inside the cabin, but it's more noticeable around the hood and exhaust areas on the exterior. At first I thought that maybe there was a piece of shipping plastic somewhere that was slowly melting, but haven't been able to find anything.

The cosmoline smell on the exterior stuck around for a few months. I bought my car last November and I still get whiffs of new car smell from the interior when I first get in it.
