BFI's Stage 4 clutch is a 6 puck. Stage 3 is a full-faced copper-ceramic disc. I was looking at their Stage 3 and 4 kits when I needed a clutch replacement and decided on a Stage 3. I was told by them and a local indy VW specialist that a 6 puck would be harsh for a DD. Almost like an on/off switch.
I've had the Stage 3 on for 5,000 miles so far and it's been great. Had no problems driving with it in the snow or rain.
It's stiffer than stock, but not in a bad way. Very easy to use in traffic or when driving it hard. Easy engagement when you want it, and grabs hard when you want it to.
Since they are made by Competition Clutch, there is usually a 3-4 week wait time after ordering.
I'd recommend that you get a SS clutch line and an upgraded bleeder block to go with it.
