A pretty short list:

1994 Subaru Legacy Turbo: really miss it, lots of great memories.
2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i wagon: kinda fun and very practical but had lots of little issues, never really bonded.

Holy crap – Scary long list and I’m sure I’ve forgotten some. There are a couple of cars that I regret selling - any of the MBs because my retirement would be significantly higher, the Rover, which was a great car as long as you carried a spare gallon of coolant at all times and the R32. Quite honestly, while the vintage cars all look great, a modern Kia Rio can run rings around them.

The most reliable car was the S6. The least reliable the BMW. The Jag and Daimler were far more reliable than their reputation. The R16 was the most comfortable car ever. It didn't run worth a damn but it was comfortable.

The Typhoon was the fastest but had crappy brakes. The LTD was close second but it had been modified by a moonshiner. That was one hell of a sleeper. The slowest was the 92 Civic (aka "pickle" because of the green color). You had to turn the AC off to make it up hills. The R16 was a close second - probably in part because it ran on 3 cylinders most of the time and the holes in the rusted fenders didn't make it very aerodynamic.

If I had to live with one car on the list as a DD then I'd pick the 300 SEL 6.3 (if I could afford the repairs) or the R32

I came to the MK7 GTI pp manual after putting 140,000 miles on my fun mazdaspeed 3. Initially I was disappointed in the ride and power of the GTI but it is severely under tuned and can safely be “woke” with just springs, motor mounts tires and tune. Your real GTI is waiting for you! After powering up you’ll want to go deeper into suspension mods but my GTI has been bulletproof throughout the mods and use.

My families relationship with VW.

1960s VW Beatle. Brought me home from hospital.
1974 MKI VW Golf/Rabbit
1980 MKI VW Golf/Rabbit
2002 MK4 VW Golf TDI - brought my 1st and 2nd son home from the hospital.
2017 MK7 VW Golf

My immediately previous car was a 2016 Mini Cooper manual. It was fun and quirky for a while then got irritating. The computer messed with the manual too much, rev matching and not allowing engine braking. I think the 2017 Golf automatic is a better manual than the Mini's manual.

Same, had a mkv gti before i got my mk7. The mk5 was my first gti and the best car i ever had. The mk7 has a lot to live up to but so far its fantastic.
