Rear fog Euro switch?

Rear fog only Euro switch?

Since I have a Sport with no front fogs and I'm planning on getting some Euro (Mk7) tails. Is there a switch with no front fog and only the rear fog position?

I've had the rear fogs wired up on my Mk3, Corrado, and they came stock on my S4. Its something I've always liked on my VWs. Is there a way to wire up the rear fog with the stock harness? At this point, I'm not sure I want to run the aftermarket harness. I want to keep everything on the car completely reversible.

Thx.

NM, found it on DAP's site. Costs quite a bit more than the "Euro" switches!

e-Acca also has it.

I'm pretty sure there's no way to run rear fogs without having some sort of harness in place. You can plug and play the LED tail lights but Amber turn signals and rear fogs aren't functional without the proper harness and coding.

Also you might want to try the Golf R Euro light switch. They don't have front fogs, and only has rear fog (in countries where LED tail lights are present). Though I'm not sure if it works for the GTI.

Maybe you can source a cheap one from Aliexpress or something. Not sure if this one works for the MK7... https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Chr...941-431-XSH-Head-Lamp-Switch/32322193644.html

Yeah...I figured you probably can't wire up the rear fog just by running a wire like on the older cars.

I looked up the switch for the Golf R. It looks like it just has the Auto function added onto the switch.

Old cars are so much simpler to mod. Lol...all I had to do on my Mk3 was run a wire from the switch to the taillight.

Thanks for the reply!

The AliExpress switch can be coded to operate a rear fog when the lights themselves are wired properly. I am running one now. I once asked if it was possible to control a rear fog using the stock switch since I deleted my fog lights and I think someone said I could but I never got around to trying it out.

Have you run across this thread on VWVortex? http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?7030830-Rear-Fog-Light-Retrofit

It's actually not that hard to get the rear fog going, as long as you have access to a VCDS cable or an OBD11... Basically, you switch the reverse light wire in the plug from the car on the driver's side, recode that wire in the BCM to be a rear fog light, and then bridge a wire for the driver's side reverse light over from the passenger side reverse wire. You also need to use LED bulbs in the reverse spots so 2 incandescent bulbs don't freak the BCM out by drawing too much current.

Hope this helps!

I did not see that before. Too bad the pics are gone.

Thanks!

Is there a way to do this if you have fog lights and non-LED tails and keep them functional?

Just buy the AliExpress switch, wire the rear fog per the instructions and then code the BCM to know you have a rear fog installed.
