So... I found this on my serpentine belt today...

I need to go on a 1,100 mile road trip in a few days and there isn't a vw dealer close enough to me for it to be practical to get this replaced by then. Asking people who are more experienced with this kind of thing: how worried should I be, and how high on my priority list should fixing this be?

I absolutely would get that fixed before trip. Belts are a common job at non-dealers. Just find one that specializes in VW preferably a performance shop as they are more likely to know what they are doing.

As others have said, I would not go on a trip with that belt.

It’s a belt... go down to any auto parts store and swap yourself.

If you can’t... any indie mechanic can pop one on for ya.
