I’m currently running the is38 APR Stage 3 file 93 OCT... with a bunch of mods... can I run e85? Just 1/4 of a tank? Or will my fuel lines/engine just crap the bed... wanna know if anyone is doing this or noticed any gains. Thanks.

My car feels a ton better running on E30 or so. I'm running a custom map6 on a JB4 though so not quite the same.

I'll usually mix 3-3.5 gallons of e85 in with a full tank of 93.

I don't have any figures or actual numbers for you but the car seems to make maybe a bit more power and run a bit more smoothly. I'd say give it a try and see play around with concentrations and find what you like best.

Do not exceed E30 with the IS38 and stock fuel system. That's about the limit of the HPFP.

Your gains will be limited running an OTS tune, but it will clean up any knock retard you have (especially in the heat). APR is really not the right tuning solution for E85.

I was looking through some old threads on this subject since its been really hot lately and my Uni stage 1+ feels like its not even there when its hot out. Found some old posts from Hoon and Diggs talking about blends helping to pick up some timing in the heat and I think I'm going to try adding a gallon or two of corn juice on my next fill up. Maybe this will keep me satisfied until I can upgrade my IC

After reading this, the threads you linked, I'm thinking of adding some e85 when I go to the track next (well next after tomorrow) to see if it helps with the hotter temps outside.

Do it! I've been blending corn for over a year now... definitely can feel the difference. Will soon get etuned by EQT for E30

Sounds good. Also, I didn’t know that P3 had an ethanol sensor voltage adapter out. I have a P3 VIDI already so I just need an ethanol sensor and the P3 voltage adapter.

Sharing in case anyone didn’t know.

This. I did this for a couple years stacking 1-2psi onto Apr is38 and running e30 or 100 octane. It basically makes the map run at full power every pull.
The car trapped 119mph on AS, 6MT with e30 , stock clutch and basically a rolling tin can with that set up. Not too bad

I read on another VW forum couple years ago that a guy with mk7 gti consistently ran 110.5 mph trap with stage 2 91 oct. He then dumped in 2.5 gallons of e85+91 pump gas, switched to the apr 93 stage 2 map and ran a 113.75 mph trap. That’s a decent improvement obviously. Apr 93 vs 91 tunes don’t have much of a difference so I’d say the e85 certainly adds lil more zip even with out custom tuning.
