That sound is normal. What your hearing is the final engagement of the clutch. If you don't want to hear that, you have to barely give it throttle when starting from a stop.

I had that noise and...

Yes, however, I don't want the RPMs to stay constant. I find that variable input allows for a smoother start from a stop.

No. I am manipulating the throttle rapidly back and forth to keep the RPMs within a range while releasing the clutch.

I don't hold, I flip on and off (quickly) the throttle so it is near that RPM.

Also, I don't get grinding that you guys are talking about. I do have that noisy TOB though.

I do the opposite, barely blip the throttle to increase engine speed between 1000-1200 rpms and release clutch. Clutch engages well every time.

Took it out for a shake down drive this morning and it was quiet as a mouse. Also noticed that the engagement point moved compared to the Sachs TOB. Engagement with the Sachs was pretty high, it is...

The new LUK TOB went in today. Car is even smoother to drive and pedal feel is much lighter (a lot closer to the GTI compared to when the Sachs TOB was in there). The bad news is it didn't completely...

Just the TOB, so no additional break in period. Other than the TOB noise, the clutch performs great.

I jump back and forth between my GTI and my R all week long and can say it is more than 20% stiffer. Also, the TOB will make a difference in how stiff the pedal feels since there is a spring inside...
